Default Engine Oil in 98 Camry

We recently had some work done to our 98 Camry by a Toyota mechanic, timing belt, valve cover gasket.
He suggested we start using 20-50 oil due to high mileage. Does this sound right? Thank You

Is the engine burning oil?

What are the max and min outside air temps the engine will be exposed to?

I would go with something like 10W-40.

Toyota recommends 10W-30 for temps 0F to 100F+.
