Default Noob needs help

My girlfriend has a 2002 Camry with a 2.4L eng with 100k miles, I have no clue what happened cause she admits to nothing but there is a hole in the side of the engine big enough to drive a NY taxi through.

I either neet to find where I can get a long block from with out returning a core (because it's junk) or should I just sell t cheap and get her a new car

What do you guys recomend?

You can find a block with everything on it....Fuel rail intake mani and throttle body ect. Doesnt include alternator pulleys or exhuast mani.Look on ebay they usually run about 1,500 plus another 200 or so for shipping. They are jdm engines and usually only have about 30,000 miles. Good buy. A whole in this side of the engine. Like a rod was thrown. Do you know what the problem is?

I plan to buy rebuilt shortblock, pay core charge and put all my other stuff on it, heads, exhaust, pulleys. etc. good luck, it is a pain to pull and my wifes motor is locked up. hole is front and to right of oil filter and I can put my fist in it.yikes!
