Default Question regarding timing 98 Camry 2.2l

Long time lurker but first time posting,

I'm changing my mothers belt on her 1998 Camry and I was wondering. I understand that the Cam gear needs to be at TDC with the circle on the pulley lined up with the notch on the bearing cap. But for the crank gear, if I put the harmonic balancer back on along with the lower timing cover how do I know if that 0 is TDC on compression stroke or exhaust stroke? Or does lining the harmonic balancer on 0 mean its TDC at the appropriate stroke and I can continue with putting the belt on?

Thank you!

Yes lining the harmonic balancer on 0 means it's TDC at the appropriate stroke

The cam rotates 2 times for every 1 revolution of the crank. The cam needs to to be lined up on the correct revolution not the crank.

Once the belt is installed, rotate the crank 2 times CW and recheck timing marks to make sure they are still correct..
