First a little background on myself.

I've been a mechanic in some capacity for over 30 years, engine building, trans building, rear end building , carburetor rebuild, painting/body work, etc. So, just for the record, I'm not a noob/novice at this kind of stuff.

I just bought this car a few weeks ago, and it runs just fine with no idle issues at red lights, nor any issue driving down the road.

The car had a cel when I bought it, so I scanned it, and the only code was P1135, bad 02 sensor 1 bank 1.

I bought/installed the new sensor, and I'm still getting the code.

So, I pulled the throttle body off, and cleaned it with cleaner made just for the tb, and mass air sensor [which I also cleaned].

I checked for any leaks in the air intake tube as well as any loose/cracked vacuum lines, but everything looked good so I'm stumped.

I've searched the web, and didn't come up with anything new that I haven't already tried so I figured I would check here.

Any idea's on anything else to check? Thanks.

 

What brand of sensor did you use?

This code is specific to the A/F heater system/circuit or ECM.

Update: I still haven't found the problem, so I'm just going to run it anyway as the engine runs fine.

I've got an 02 Tacoma that I had to disconnect the rear 02 sensor for the turbo kit. I immediately got a cel.

That was about ten years ago, and the engine is still running fine. However, I recently [two months ago] did a scan, and found the front 02 sensor had gone out.

Same thing as the Camry, no effect on engine performance, etc. I even pulled the plugs to check, and they were all an even light brown color.

So, I wired in the old 20k miles OEM 02 rear sensor that I had to pull for the turbo kit [same as the front, but different connector].

I'm still getting a code for the front 02 sensor even after erasing the stored codes.

Some times I think that little check engine light is just a pain in the a$$.
