Sorry for duplicating the last 2 messages sent to you. It had appeared that the first one didn't get sent.

Did you research the info sent in the private message and conduct any tests?

As far as I understand the "private message" that you are referring to is the same as this thread that we have been communicating on. Yes, I did respond to your earlier message... I do not know where the 2nd ignition coil is located and do not know where to measure ohms resistance. I was asking for your opinion on replacing the entire distributor?

I am sorry if I am expecting too much in terms of advice for getting this '93 Camry back on the road. I wish that I could afford a mechanic. Given my situation of not knowing where the 2nd ignition coil is (I had already replaced what I consider to be the main coil) and do not know where and how to check the coils resistance, does it make sense for you that an alternative for me is to replace the entire distributor for $51? Thank you for all and any advice that have given.

If you look at the Welcome DependableRide box after you log in you should see Private Messages Unread 1, Total.

Click on the Private Messages to read the private message.

If you can not conduct the tests then a replacement distributor may be in order.

I just followed your directions for finding your private message and the were none. This is what I found:
Welcome, DependableRide.

I wish that I knew what you said which you determined needed to be private. It's fine with me if you state it in you reply now.

I still can't understand why I didn't know about a 2nd coil when I purchased the replacement one for my distributor.

The coils are NOT the ign coil for the spark plugs. They are for the pickup sensor inside the distributor.

See private message.

Good morning, I saw that your private message showed up today. Again I apologize for apparently not being able to open the message. It just says, Ign Info, and I assume that there is more to it. I will ask my son to help me open the message when he's available. Thanks again.

There should be an internet address link in the message. Click on the link then go to the ign folder.

If you have an ohm meter can check the coils resistance (not the coil that generates the ign spark). Check resistance of coils hot and cold. Can use a hair drier to heat them.
