2004 2.4L Blown Head Gasket - What to Do
My friend has a 2004 Camry that he has replaced the clutch(standard), brakes and tires. Now the head gasket has blown, no water in oil. Engine has timing chain, not belt.
If he wants to save the car what is the recommended choices?
Pull head and repair? Is there head bolt issues with this motor? Replace with rebuilt? Used engine?
Would appreciate pros, cons and ideas?
Thanks

Tough. See other thread here: an old head gasket thread on a 2004 has been resurrected right here on page 1.
also he could drop by your local dealer and ask the service guy;
I've found if I'm pleasant I can usually get some free knowledge that way ...

A blown head gasket is common on this engine year/model. This site has a long tread on this subject and what the repair is.
The head bolt threads in the engine block have pulled out on some of the bolts as a result of a design flaw.
You can also do an internet search on your issue to find other links, etc.
