Husbands 2006 camry started making a rattling sound under the hood on the passenger side. He leaves at 4:30am and doesn't get back til well after dark so I haven't been able to go out and look at it or record it. I will try to this evening. Have an appt to take it in on Monday to the mechanic. But was curious if it could be a belt? Upon starting and letting it idle..it rattles under the hood. Put it in drive and start to accelerate, you can hear it under the hood until you get up to speed and going, then its not hearable. Any ideas? I knows its pretty vague.

 

I was able to get a short video of under the hood today since I had to take it in for inspection and to get new tags for it. Any ideas before Monday?

 

Is this engine a 4 cylinder or 4-cylinder?

The water pump is in the area the camera was pointed.

Ask your husband to use a section of hose or other pipe as a stethoscope to narrow the area down.

 

Sounds like the water pump.
