I just bough a 96 4 cyl. it did not pass emissions, a few things are wrong. the check engine light is not working at all (maybe just the bulb) and I got a p0770 code. I have fixed the ERG valve I think? but want to one get the engine light to come on and then see if it goes off.

 

The light does not come on when you turn on the ignition key?

You can remove the instrument console to access the light bulb. See link below:
