Default Check engine light

I was driving to work and the check engine light came on. I had an oil change done and figured they forgot to reset it. Got to work and zeroed it out. Got in to head back home, and it came back on as soon as started. I went to two auto parts stores to see if they could pull the code. They tried but couldn't get the machine to connect to the car.

Any clue what could cause this?

Do you mean the maintenance light?

The code reader stated it could not connect to the engine computer?

It's upside down, but here it is. That's correct. It wouldn't connect to the computer.

No photo.

The check light has an engine symbol and the word "check".

Sometimes failure to connect is wiring problem, fuse issue (check the 7.5A ODB fuse) or bad ECU.

Sorry. Yeah, that's the light I'm seeing.

Thank you! Do you know how to tell which it is?

You need to check the items listed in the last post.

Where's the ODB fuse? Would that be in the owner's manual?

Default That fixed and have an idea what's wrong

Ok, I found the fuse and replaced it. Ran the codes and came up with 3 of the speed sensors are coding and the rear evaporator. They said the last one is usually the gas cap. So, would this be safe to drive until I can get it into the shop?

OK to drive as long is the check light is not flashing. If flashing it means the engine is missing and the emissions converter can be damaged.
