So yesterday afternoon I was looking for my wallet I had lost in my car, 2004 Toyota Camry. My niece was inside it and playing around with some buttons. About an hour later I went back by myself to try and look for my wallet again. This time however my remote key wouldn't work to unlock the car. I tried a few more times throughout the night with no luck.

This afternoon I went up to the car and tried to unlock with remote and it worked. However the lights and sound was very dim. I was very happy, I get into the car and try to turn it on and nada. Engine wouldn't turn on, stereo not turning on. I couldn't even lock/unlock the doors from inside the car with the buttons. My brother in law tried to jump the car but nothing. The only thing that happened was the alarm went off for 2-3 beeps.

I called Toyota and they told me it might be the battery in the remote. We'll I tried my spare key remote and it's doing the same thing. I doubt I have two bad batteries in my remotes.

Now I've had problems the last couple years with the alarm going off randomly when locked in cold/hot weather and the car not starting because of this. This was my original thought however I couldn't remember exactly where that switch was so I came inside on my computer to do some research then went back out to my car and it's locked.

Oh and also putting the key into the door lock and unlocking/locking won't work either.

Short summary - key remote, door lock won't unlock car. Car won't start.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

 

Update -

I went back outside and tried getting into the car. The remote still doesn't work. However, both back doors were unlocked.

The car still won't start. It won't flip over to start when turning key in ignition.

 

car will not accept new factory Toyota key.
