Hi I have a sunroof repair question and I am new to this forum so I don't know where to post this but my sunroof is open it won't close or open. The motor and the sunroof glass is fine. I think the only thing broken is the black tabs that pull the silver tray and the black metal at the sides. Here are the pictures.

Do you see the right side with the black metal it's on the ground it's not hooked up do I need to buy a replacement for that black part to? I have come to a price of $131.28 for the parts( 6 parts) I think I need. The 2 black bars or cover that pulls the metal for for the sunroof cover. the 2 black metals 1 side that is broken and I forgot the other 2. Please tell me if that is the right pieces needed.

 

I'm no sunroof expert but it looks like you have some things figured out pretty well. Sunroofs can be finicky and a real pain to work on. I take it the electric motor runs just fine when you hit the button, just nothing happens, like the glass is not engaged in the track?

 

Exactly what you said. I can hear the motor working but no action. I have an 2003 toyota camry and I would like(need) to know if those are the parts I need to buy because I am going to take it to a shop afterwards to get my sunroof repaired.

 

Since those appear to be dealer only items, I'm sure if you went to your local toyota dealer with your car, the parts could be verified by the parts department. Most parts guys are pretty good and willing to help out.
This issue is just kind of hard to totally diagnose from my computer.

 

I work for a Toyota dealer and I can send you an email of the parts diagram if you want me to. I'd post it here but it won't let me for some reason. I've tried.

 

The dealer wants $100 for inspection so hell to the no lol. I am not made of money. I am only 20. Those 4 parts I only see are broken. I saw a diagram of parts when I went to the toyota dealership for pricing and said I will be back after I got some answers.

 

I would PM Toyotaguy to get some info.

 

but keep in mind that if you get the car fixed by them then that $100 should go towards the install price. So it's not like you'd be paying an extra $100 on top of labor and parts. Just an FYI if you didn't already know that.

The toyoto dealership guy recommanded me that website when I asked can I get the parts cheaper online.
