Default Transmission related question 99 Camry CE

Hi All

I own a 99 camry CE with 79K miles on it. I bought this used vehicle on last december when it was 74K miles. I changed the engine oil immdly. after I bought this car and changed the transmission fluid at 75K miles from carx as recommended by toyota. Since I bought the car I can feel the gear shift (upshift and downshift), but there is no strong noise or jerk and my tranmission engagement is very quick. But I drew some of my friends camry and corolla in which I don't feel the gear shift at all.

I was hoping the transmission flush will clear this problem, but it didn't. I don't see any problem in driving, pickup, etc but this gear shift feel is annoying. To share some more information carx overfilled the trans fluid which I noticed recently and took the car back to them and get that corrected but still there is no change in the gear shift, I don't feel this gear shift when I first move the car in the morning for some miles.

Is there anything to do with the quality of the ATF used, any help is highly appreciated.

Thanks

it sounds like it is an internal issue to me, but it could have been due to the improper fluid..

Take it to a car dealership because its an internal problem. It sounds like the clutches are almost gone in the transmission. Just get a tech there to drive it. DO NOT take it to a cheap transmission shop. Toyota Dealership. To me it sounds like the tranny is almost at the end of its life. Eventually it wont shift at all and you will have to manually change the gears, and it will grind BAD. I dont think that the wrong ATF would do this, but just for the record, what kind did you use?

I am not sure what fluid they have used at carx. I took it to a transmission specialist (not dealer) and they did a test drive and said everything looks normal. Also as jasmtz531 suggested I have fixed an appointment with a toyota dealer on monday for a tranmission check and they said they will do a fluid check, connect computer and check for worn out mechanical parts and a test drive.

Will post the results on monday. But the non dealer trans mechanic told that my car's shift feel is quite normal and little feelable shift is better and the transmission will last long, he also mentioned that the fluid brands can greatly change the shift smoothness.

Thanks for all who replied.

The trasmission check was done today from a toyota dealer and the computer test and drive test that they did, resulted normal. They didn't find any mechanical worn out items inside my transmission. Thanks for everyone who posted replies.

Thanks.
