wireless trunk opener
Is there a way to disable the wireless trunk opener button on the key? I tried locking the trunk with the key to disable the manual release but the wireless function still opens the trunk. I keep opening the trunk accidently when the keyes are in my pocket. I purchased a key cover but it still happens.
Guessing no unless the main body computer can be reprogrammed, for this question ask a Toyota dealer.
The electric trunk lock is wired directly to the main body computer. You can disable this via the wiring but then the push button opener inside the car will not work.
Can try applying silicone seal to the button. When cured this material may shield the button from pressure but be easily removed if needed. If using silicone find a type that states it is OK for aluminum flashing or a type for electrical parts.
The silicone used for bathrooms, etc may cause corrosion.
