2000 Camry LE 2.2L 4cylinder won’t start code reads P0340, P0401, P0440, P0441. Replaced fuel pump and camshaft sensor. Check #1 cylinder for compression and spark both good. Motor turns over with no start.

Did the engine die on you or one day just not start?

What made you change the fuel pump?

When you installed the pump did you wire it correctly? Has happened with some universal fuel pumps that you have to wire up that the wiring can be reversed. The pump then runs backwards. Make sure the pump is actually pumping fuel. Yes, this does happen!

Does the car have an immobilizer and if so is the correct ign key being used. This system cuts off the fuel injectors.

P0401 is insufficient exhaust gas flow. The EGR valve should be closed or EGR system not working but check to make sure the valve is closed. The system should be off at start up and idle.P0440 and P0441 are EVAP codes. The cars fuel tank system may have a air leak in the emissions control system. Normally not an operational issue.

Check for loose or damaged vacuum hoses.

Driving home engine died, my brother hooked up code reader and came up with codes. He couldn’t hear fuel pump so he bought a new one. Dad saw camshaft sensor reading so he bought a new one and my brother changed it still won’t start.

For safety, the pump will only operate when the engine is running or cranking over. There is a relay that determines if the starter is working or the engine is running (relay gets a signal from the ECM). The relay could be bad. It's called the Circuit Opener Relay or COR. Supposed to be in fuse/relay box in engine compartment. The internet should have photos, drawings, etc of location.

Could jump the pump wiring and or check for output at a fuel filter fuel connections. Pump positive 12v wire may be blue/black and negative white/black

Check resistance of cam sensor. Should be 835-1400 ohm cold. Make sure the reading is constant and doesn't go up or down with time.

I assume the timing belt is OK, but if this engine just dies on the road it happens the belt has broke.

Check all fuses including IGN and EFI. Note there another fuse box behind the drivers side dash coin box/ash tray.
