Question 2010 Camry ABS and Traction Control Issues

Hello everyone,

First forum post here. I have a 2010 Camry with the 2.5L I4 with 5spd manual. Occasionally my ABS and traction control light turns on almost randomly. I tested to see if wheel bearings were bad but are stable. there is slight play in tie rods but will replace soon. I removed the ABS sensors in the front and cleaned them off (they were kind of dirty). I put them back in and helped for a bit but the light still comes on. The sensors in the back just plug in so I made sure the connection was stable. I don't have any issues with braking or any speedometer issues either. Brake fluid is at a good level as well. There is no brake light on, just ABS and Trac. I'm not sure where to go from here. I try to hook up my cheap OBD II scanner but it doesn't show any codes and sometimes when I drive the lights don't come on at all. Please help. Thanks!

Do you have a code reader that can read "C" codes for ABS?

The ABS and TRAC lights are linked to the same issue. Fix the issue and bot lights will go off.

I'm sure that it does not, but once I find one I'll try it out. Has been about two days now without the light coming on. Would this "C" code scanner still be able to pick up faults if the lights aren't actively on?

Thanks.

It's not a "C" scanner but a scanner that can read "C" codes, in addition to the other typical codes such as "P" codes.

If the lights are off then the problem is no longer occurring. If the lights went off soon after the work you did perhaps that fixed the problem.

If any part of the ABS system has a problem the whole system shuts down and the lights go on.

Update,

So I bought a C code scanner to see what problems it gave me. the big issue it gave me was C1333. Open circuit in rear left sensor. So I ordered a new sensor, put that in today. I have not seen the light come back on but I also don't know if it just needs time to recalibrate and identify if the issue is still there.

Thank you

You got the correct sensor changed out.

Drive at a speed of approximately 25 mph or more for 60 seconds and determine if the code comes back.

If still an issue check the wiring to that sensor.
