Brake Booster question?
Hey guys/gals just wanted to reach out as I’m looking for some advice. I just had my brake booster going bad and I replaced it today. I’ve done all the test on the new one to make sure the vacuum seal is holding right and it seems to be passing those test, but I am still hearing air leakage when I press the brake pedal but that is the only time I hear the sound it’s not making a swoosh sound any other time.
So I’m just looking for advice because my brakes seem to be working properly and my pedal is back to normal and not hard to push like it was Friday night.
And I was also curious about the boot on it, because my original had a rubber boot on it and this new one does not it’s open (pictures below). So is this a big deal or no and could this chase me to hear the vacuum release more?
Thank you in advance for your help!

To test. With engine off, depress brake pedal several times, there should be no change in brake pedal height.
Depress brake pedal and start engine. Pedal should move down slightly.
Let engine run for a couple of minutes then turn it off.
Depress pedal 3 times. The 1st time the pedal goes down it should move the furthest down. The 2nd press less further down and the 3rd even less further.
With pedal depressed stop engine. Pedal should remain in the same position for 30 seconds.

Yeah I ran all of those test and everything is holding fine or dropping the right amount and the brake pedal does shorten on the 3 push after shutting the car off. So that’s why I’ve been so confused on why I’m hearing the release of Air pressure when I apply the brake. But that being said once I hear the initial release there is no more air release while I’m holding the brake. But I still hear some release every time I push the pedal. But the car is braking fine and stopping the way it should.
So I think I’ll take it in and just have the mechanic I trust give my brakes the run through.

yeah I spoke to my mechanic this morning as well and he said the same thing everything seems to be checking out right and working properly. He said it could be just a faulty refurbished unit but he also said it could just go away or you might always have some sound from that unit.
But like I said everything is working great car stops great pedal is back to the way it was before Friday night, so I’m just going to keep an eye on it.
And worst case scenario replace it again, but I’m going to walk through everything I did just verify my torques are right and go from there.
But thank you for your help and advice!
