Default Check Engine light burned out?

My 1997 engine light does not come on at anytime but my ecu is working fine. Could this be a fuse? Or is the light just burned out and needs replaced? Need some advice either way...thanks

The OBD socket may have a fuse.

The light may be wired for +12v inside the instrument console. The ECU then grounds the light to turn it on.

Light should turn on when ign key is turned on then go out.

I'm not sure if it's burned out or has been disconnected by the previous owner. Thanks for the assistance...I can't get my car registered until the engine light is working again. Is the check engine light inside the instrument cluster? And where would the fuse be? Just got the car half dead, over 325k miles, it's running great now and ecu works fine...just no check engine light any help would be greatly appreciated

Fuse box may be behind the drivers side ash tray/coin box on instrument panel. The fuse is for the OBD system not light.

Search the internet for videos on removing the instrument console to access the check light.
