Default Help: 1999 Camry -- please offer suggestions for a fix

Hi,

My 1999 Camry, 4 cylinder: after running about 10 minutes--when I'm going about 25 mph it will of a sudden not accelerate (it goes about 2 miles an hour). If I turn car off then back on it will go forward a short distance then go back to 2 mph. What complicates things is: both the dealer and my local mechanic get *no* codes or error lights. I've replaced fuel pump, water pump, and all plugs and belts are new. Anyone know what's going on? Thanks! --John

The dealer was of no help?

Is the coolant temp normal?

How are the engine RPM when no acceleration?

Try to determine if the issue is the engine has no power or the trans is not allowing the power to get to the wheels. It happens the trans fails and doesn't allow power to be transmitted.

Make sure the throttle peddle is moving the throttle pulley. The throttle cable doesn't go directly to the pulley but through the cruise control box.

The fuel system is not directly monitored by the diagnostic system. If low fuel pressure the condition may not set a code.

Default My thanks for the replies

Sincere thanks to toyomoho and dirty hands for your replies. The car is at the dealership currently and I will raise the good points you both make with the dealership mechanic.
