My 2003 Camry wont go into park

How does the trans shift when driving?
The gear shifter in the car is connected by a cable to a lever on the transmission housing.
Get a helper. Secure car so it can't move. Have helper move the shifter from Low to Park as you watch the action at the shift lever on the transmission. Make sure the lever moves the full range from P to L and back plus the dash indicator lights go from Park to Low in the same gear position as the gear shift lever.
The trans has a parking pawl (lever) that engages a gear on the trans when in Park to keep the trans locked. This pawl can break if the trans is shifted into Park when moving too fast.
The trans has a rotary switch located behind the shift lever on the trans. When in Park or neutral this switch should connect the wiring to enable the engine to turn over. Check the switch for wiring connection problems.
