Default New Solara Owner

Hey Everyone!,

I'm Dave from Tallahassee, FL. I bought a 99 Solara 4 cylinder 5 speed with 130,000 miles a few months ago. It hasn't really run right since then, mainly stumbling at acceleration. I fixed the stumbling with plugs and wires, and a new valve cover gaskets, that were leaking into the spark plugs. But now my mechanic says there are no leaks he sees, yet I burn about 1 qrt of oil every week. YIKES!!!

I relied on forums like these when I had an eclipse and accord in high school and college to get me rolling most of the time. So I am back again, because I was sick of new car payments, and wanted to return to a paid for car.

See ya around,
Dave

Did the mechanic check for leaks with the engine running?

Check below and to the firewall side of the timing cover for signs of oil. The cam, crank and oil pump seals can leak, some oil when the engine is running.

Use a flash light to check under the distributor, under the engine where the trans and engine bolt together.
