Default Remote Starter Issue

Hi,
I’m new to the forum. I have a 2014 Camry XLE. I bought it certified preowned from a dealer. It came with a toyota remote starter already installed (it’s the kind that works with the Toyota key fob). I bought it in 2015, and it worked flawsly. However, a couple of weeks ago, I tried to start it and it wouldn’t start. I have never been in an accident, never hit a pot hole, or have done anything that would damage the remote starter. I’ve tried searching the internet to find a reason why it would stop working out of the blue like this and came up empty. Does anyone have any experience with remote starter issues? I know it’s nearly impossible to diagnose problems ober the internet, buf are there any common troubleshooting methods I can try? I’d appreciate any help I can get

Try replacing the battery in the FOB.

The internet has lots of posts and videos on how to do this.

I should’ve mentioned this in my first post. The first thing I did when this happened was change out the battery. No luck there.

Do the other remote functions (if any) on the FOB work? Meaning, is the FOB is still communicating with the car?

If not (dead):

1) Try reprogramming the FOB to cars computer which controls the remote operations. (The internet has links on how to do this).

2) Could be the cars FOB receiver has failed. Search for Camry RKE receiver (Remote Keyless Entry).

The other functions work. If it did stop communicating, would resetting the fob to the computer reset the remote starter functions? I have a backup fob that I haven’t tried yet. I’ll give that a try

Worth a try to reprogram.

Determine if the other remote works.
