VSC System Warning Light & Tone
Hi All,
Looking for help on repairing my 2007 Camry Hybrid with 153K miles. While driving my VSC system, ABS and brake light suddenly came on along with a warning tone. It felt like I was driving with the brakes on but fortunately I was only 1 mile from my home. I've not driven the car since then and don't feel it's safe to drive to a local AutoZone to have a diagnostic check. I can have it towed to a Toyota dealer but want to have an idea of possible causes and repair costs. Not sure that it's worth investing a few thousand into repairs if it comes to that. Appreciate any and all feed back! Thanks!

Best advise is to post at the Toyotanation.com website in the Camry hybrid section.
The brake system does have its own self diagnostic system that can be accessed with a OBDII reader that reads Toyota codes. If you had the codes read our you can narrow down the problem and approximate the repair cost. The cost could be in the thousands.
Might try a third party brake repair shop as the Toyota dealer is the most expensive option..

Thanks Joey. I actually had my car towed to the Toyota dealership as it was not driveable. Turns out the emergency brake cable had corroded and was seized causing my brake to stick on and every light on my dash to display along with a warning tone to sound. The dealership quoted me $900 for the repair and also told me my rear brake pads and rotors were ruined and would run another $600 to replace. A retired former dealership mechanic who works on the side instructed me to have the dealership disconnect the emergency park and he could do the repair MUCH cheaper. Interestingly, when I told the dealership to disconnect, the repair cost dropped to $635. My friend replaced the cable for a couple hundred, and my brakes were fine.
