Default Issues and Performance Tips for 6.2L Cadillac Engines

Hi everyone,

I recently acquired a Cadillac equipped with the 6.2L engine, and I’m curious about a few things. First, what are the most common maintenance issues or weaknesses to watch for with this engine? I’ve read mixed opinions about reliability under heavy use.

Second, for those who have experience, are there recommended performance upgrades or modifications that are worth pursuing without sacrificing longevity?

Finally, any advice on best practices for oil type, intervals, or tuning to maximize both performance and lifespan would be greatly appreciated.

What year is this engine? Late model ones seem to have connecting rod issues.
