Default 2002 XLE stock wheel question

First post on here. I have a stock 02 xle came with 215-60-16 rims/tires. I have had a set of 18 x 8 rims on it with 225-45-18 Bridgestones for most of its life. I want to put the stock rims back on for a while with new rubber.

My question is can I go from 215-60-16 to a 225-60-16 on the stock rim with no rub issues on the strut? There is not too much room betwween the strut spring pad and the OD of the tire maybe one inch. I believe the tire I want has increased the diameter by .6 from 26.1 to 26.6 and tread width by .7 from 7.1 to 7.8 tread width.

Thanks for any assistance with this. I need to order the tires.

is not going to rub on the strut ,there is over 1" of clearance be-twin strut and the tire, a 225 tire is only .6 of a inch wider on overall this means is .3 of a inch wider on each side .Going to a 225 series tire only change the Overall Diameter by 1.77% most manufactures allow up to 3% increase .

the 225/45/18 tire previously on your car on the custom rims is the same with as the 225/60/16 , with the 18 inch wheel the overall diameter was over by .69 % from the OEM wheels .
