Default Brakes are fine, go soft, stay soft for 2 miles, go back to normal

I was driving my sisters '04 carmy le v6(200900 miles) and was coming to a red light and when I hit the brakes the pedal felt really soft. Went down 3/4 b4 felt any braking. Pumped the pedal once or twice and it got stiffer and was able to stop. Kept drive and same thing at next 4 or 5 stop lights, about 2 miles. Then the road went down from 2 to 1 lane so had to get over and slow down because the car ahead of me was going pretty slow. But this time when I pressed the brake pedal it felt normal, and stayed normal the rest of the way home. I have never had, or even heard of, something like this happening b4. My dad is a mechanic and was ASE certified when he was younger, works on giant machines at a factory now. He has taught me most of what I know about working on cars, I do most of my own work on cars including brakes. Asked him if he had any clue why the car would do that and he too has never even heard of this happening. He said usually when the pedal gets soft for really any reason it doesn't go back to normal a couple miles later. The car is braking fine and normal so I don't know if it was just an air bubble somehow got into the system and got out, something with the abs or computer, or what. If anyone has ever heard, experienced, or has any thoughts or ideas about this please let me know. Thank you.

Might check the brake booster. It's possible a failing booster can have intermediate issues.

Update:
Drove the car a bunch today with no issues, both highway and city. Checked for any leaks everywhere I could as well as the fluid level again. Everything is dry and level is at the max line still.
Ok i will thanks toyomoho.
