Default front rotors

hi
i have a 02 camary xle v6, my mechanic after he took car for a ride said the front rotors are slighty warped. i've noticed this from when i bought it new sometimes i would feel the steering wheel wobble a bit when i would stop hard, i assumed it might be the abs system. my question is has anyone removed the front rotors, i removed tire its not aproblem to remove the calipers, but the rotors have a nut holding them on the shaft. the nut been pushed in to the slot in the shaft. how could i getthe nut off the shaft?

when you remove the whole calliper and the calliper mounting bracket the rotor should come off. I dont know if they've changed the design on the gen5 but on mine thats how it is.

Its a fairly easy change so long as none of the bolts are stuck/rusted on. The center nut you see should be whats holding the wheel bearings and stuff to the axle.

I only removed the calliper and the mounting bracket around it. Nothing else. You should notice that when you change brake pads that the disc will wobble, and if it doesnt, you just need a rubber mallet to tap it a few times and it should come loose. The OEM rotors are somewhat stuck to the axle sometimes.

thank you, i got it wasn't sure if the nut held the rotors on, apparently the callipers hold the rotors.its a shame the rotors are warped with only 22,000 on the car.

that is sad.
Our cars never have had warping rotor issues. I dont know why people do, and i dont know why we dont. We try never to get the rotors wet when they're still hot and i dunno what else. I've put some rotors through hell with driving abuse and water but still have had no issues, even under maximum braking.

Good Luck.

What kind of pads/rotors are you planning on buying? OEM is kind of the best way to go but otherwise i hear the lifetimepads and maybe rotors from shops like autozone/kragen do a good job so long as you dont race your car.
