Default struts and mounts

Eureka! My rattling in the front wheel area of my '99 4 cylinder Camry is gone, although it cost me big bucks--$700. I had Sears install Monroe Quick Struts since they are a complete unit (springs, struts & strut mounts). I figured this way I'd have all my bases covered. I could have had just the mounts installed for less money, but figured at 65,000 miles I'd soon be needing struts. I've driven about 500 miles since installation, and the noise is gone. The ride is also fine, not too stiff or too soft. Before getting the struts I did try tightening the strut mount nut, but it barely budged and the noise was still there. Before spending the money you should try the nut tightening, as it seems to have worked for some people, just not for me. Good luck.

Great to hear that the noise is gone. What is the cost if you just replace the mounts? Any idea. Please help.

Hi, I'm sorry to have taken so long to respond to your query, but I haven't checked the site until now. In any case, I don't remember what the charge was for just replacing the mounts. If I remember correctly, the greatest part of the charge was the labor. Check with your mechanic. Good luck. Heather
