Default Fake Moderator Alert

Please do not be tricked by the following users, who use the usernames "ForumModerators" and "Admin&Moderator." They are posing as moderators. I just received a private message from each, with them pretending to be moderators of this forum.

Here's a sample of the private messages that they send out; they try to get you to click a link to "pass a security test" *sigh*

===
Dear, zheka;DurfZoorrygom;cyberyoshi24;dazed_n_confuzd;8 8 Camry!

A virus alert was noticed on your computer.
We highly recommend you to check your computer and perform online virus check at our site immediately: [link removed]
If you do not pass this test* we will have to delete your account and forward a complaint to your ISP.
===

Anyhow, as a rule, never click on any links from unfamiliar users. If the moderators would kindly look into this issue (and maybe prune from the database users who have chosen to user ID names to impersonate forum moderators), that would be most appreciated.

I received the same message. But I think noone cares about the camry forum or is trying to fix anything. The whole forum is full of spam and junkmails.

YEAH RIGHT. Like I am going to trust some1 on a random forum to tell me I have a virus! They are trying to get you to download a fake antivirus that is actually a virus! One easy clue is that the user Admin&Moderator just joined this month and has zero forum posts. Give me a break. Can real admins plz ban this idiot's IP?

Exclamation Attention moderator: please delete account quaker_emu

I received this fake alert message too. Fortunately I used a disposable email when joining because effective immediately it will start bouncing mail. The forum owner and moderators could do a lot more to control spam but clearly are not so I will be leaving. Please delete my account on this forum ASAP, thanks.

I wonder if it is a "hack attack" from that other Toyota site where you can't criticize german cars or "Fat Guy" tires?

not trying to flame anyone or anything but is this even a car forum anymore? i among others joined to learn and get help with our cars. can the mods clean all these **** and selling phones and all these trash threads up?

we all know what the internet is obviously, and if you want **** there are sites for that. this is a car forum. i dont understand what the problem is. i understand this forum is free, so is funding for this forum the issue? and the ad's are this forums sponsors? i dont want a pm. other members deserve to know what's happening here as well.

I forgot I was a member here till I got an email saying this crap which I knew was bogus.. I came to inform them that some idiot is sending out these messages but its clear that they are aware of that and dont care.
