Toyota Camry 2007-2011: How to Replace Front Turn Signal Bulb

Simple steps for a low-cost solution.

By Jennifer Heuertz - July 23, 2015

This article applies to the Toyota Camry (2007-2011).

Turn signals are an important part of vehicle safety, and when one burns out, you should replace it right away. If the dash light blinks rapidly when you attempt to use your turn signal, that's a good indication that the bulb is burned out. A quick trip to your local auto parts store plus a little elbow grease on your part, and the light will be blinking properly in no time.

Materials Needed

  • Tire iron/lug wrench
  • Vehicle jack
  • Screwdrivers (flat-head and Phillips-head)
  • Plastic trim panel tool
  • Gloves or a soft cloth

Step 1 – Remove the front wheel

Loosen the lug nuts with the tire iron/lug wrench. Set the parking brake and block the rear tires to prevent the car from rolling away. Use a jack to raise the vehicle. Remove the lug nuts and remove the wheel.

Pro Tip

It is possible to access the turn signal bulb without removing the wheel, but doing so will provide you plenty of working room.

Step 2 – Remove the inner fender well liner fasteners

Some models may have several screws holding the liner in place, while others will have a clip. Use a screwdriver and plastic trim tool to remove any fasteners.

Step 3 – Replace the turn signal bulb

Pull back the fender well liner to access the bulb. Reach up into the fender and locate the bulb. Twist the socket counterclockwise to remove it from the housing. To remove the bulb, you will need to either turn it counterclockwise or pull it straight out of the socket. Install the new bulb, then reinstall the bulb socket by turning it clockwise in the housing.

Pro Tip

Do not touch the bulb surface with your fingers. Wear gloves or use a cloth to handle it. If you do touch it, clean the bulb with rubbing alcohol before installing it.

Step 4 – Reattach the fender well liner

Put the liner back in place and install the fasteners.

Step 5 – Re-install the wheel

Re-install the wheel and install the lug nuts, but do not tighten them all the way. Lower the vehicle and finish tightening the lug nuts. Unblock the wheels and you're all done.
