Backup Camera
I just purchased a 2007 Metallic Gray XLE and was wondering if anyone has attempted to add a backup camera to the NAV system? I know that the 2007 Lexus ES350 has the same NAV system and offers a backup camera. Any thoughts?
It is the only option other than ventilated seats that I really wanted on the Camry, but I could not justify the extra $10,000 for the Lexus to get those two items!

you can order the camera from the lexus dealer they are compatible with your system the only thing is you may have to drill a hole to locate the camera in you rear bumper or somewhere facing rear.
I want to do the same thing. I noticed that the Prius has a backup camera mounted above the rear license plate on the facia where the plate lamps are. I am hoping that if I purchase the camera (not sure if I can get the wiring) that I'll be able to connect it to the DVD Nav.
I can tell you where to get a backup camera and how to install it. email me at cruisin@live.com
Here's a link to the type of camera that will work and how to install it. Got my camera from ebay.

The function of the reverse camera is so you know how close you are to objects behind your car, not to replace looking back. It does not give nearly as wide of a view as actually looking does.
Let's say a kid on a bike is going down the sidewalk. You can see them without a problem. If you rely on the reverse camera, you can't see them until they are actually behind your car.
