Capacitors
I'm looking into getting one, but I don't know much about them. They arn't expensive, information on them seem like I need one. My lights dim and I don't have money for a new battery.
Does anyone know anything about these? I know they act as a battery, restoring energy and blah blah. But is it worth it?

its worth it. light will still dim just not as bad.. but the sound quality will be improved.. if you want to stop the lgith from dimming upgrade the ALT to a high out put, and run bigger gauges wires...

RE: Capacitors
What kind should I get? Base it off my amp wattage or my whole system wattage? I was thinking 1-1.5? My amp is 650 watts if I remember correctly and my subs are around 300-400RMS.
My last calculation was somewhere around 1.5-2k watt in whole system RMS.

from what i heard, usually the minnium is 1 fard for each 1000 WRMS but the more the better. you pretty much base is on the amp. the RMS on the subs is what it can handle. but if you can get a 1.5 then go for it.. but here is my set up.
~Pionner deck, Kenwood 6 1/2 doors, Planets Audio tweeters, 2x12s Planet Audio in a custom ported box (tuned to 37hz at 2.86 cubic ft), 500 watt RMS fosgate amp = 139.6 Dbs in audio control. (no rear speakers due to the air pressure from the subs.) Update, added Hooker Audio cap.
and here are pictures of my set up.. its nothing big or fancy just a little thump in the trunk.

RE: Capacitors
I got some more information. .5-1 would be perfect for my setup. Thanks for the help.
Your setupis pretty nice. 140dBs is LOUD.. Hah..
My setup is Alpine CDA-9856 with full speed iPod, 5 1/4 Kenwoods in doors, one of them is already blown sadly. Blaupunkt 6x9s in the back. Don't ever buy those.
2 Infinity Kappa 10s and a Infinity amp with 650RMS.

RE: Capacitors
you can take it to a local car audio shop and ask if they have a meter or will meter your car free of charge(s). at times, the song i will be playing hit a certain frequency and make it hard to breath and even hard to drink soda. it took me a while before i got to where it is. if you got the moeny then you can goo all out but im a college student so moeny dont come that easy so just get/upgrade one thing at time and next thing you know you have a rcokin' system.
