Id stick w/MDF boxes because i know that every side is even, where as the fiberglass might be thicker/thinner in some areas (really depends on the manufacturer). Plus the cost of a fiberglass subwoofer enclosure doesn't justify its cost..well imo anyways.. good luck!

are you going for looks or sounds? fiber glass is more for looks then sounds. dont get me worng that sound good but if your going for SPL or SQ then go with the MDF.. just my .02 cent

well, at first i was going to go for looks....but then i thought, who in the hell am i going to show it off to? nobody....i could show it off to my friends and be like "whoa look at me, the cool guy with fiberglass enclosures"....but that is kinda gay.

i think i will just maintain the sound quality and just go for the traditional MDF.

Hahaha thats so funny. I would have to say that if your car is show material, and you want to show off your subs then fiber glass is the way to go. But if you don't care about how your setup looks like and all you care for is the SOUND then the regular plain ol' box is good to go!

It all depends on how you do it. If you are building the enclosure, wood or fiberglass, theycan both look and sound great. Most of the SQ vehicles out there today are using fiberglass enclosures.(look at the Alpine builds)The ones that don't sound good are the ones not made properly.(and there are a lot of those)That applys to mdf as well. But if your creative you can do a lot with a standard mdf box that gives it a custom look. (even the store bought/prefab boxes) Also keep in mind that most fiberglass enclosures are a lot of times 70/30 mdf to fiberglass. In most cases its an mdf skelton with a fiberglass front or maybe a little more. Plus on ebay a company called TC audio sells some nice fiberglass enclosures for $175-$300 custom painted. Which is a lot less then most shops would charge.

Fiberglass in some installs.....MDF in others.......it is all in how you install it.....
