Default Replacing rear window antenna

Hi all,
I'm looking for some ideas and expertise here. I own a 2000 Camry and am not happy with the radio reception which I attribute to the rear window antenna. I want to install a simple 31" "stick" antenna in the rear fender where a power antenna is installed on some of the older models. Has anyone done this and do you have any suggestions.

Thanks!

Have you checked the wiring connections to the antenna?

Hi there,
Actually I have not physically checked the connection. That's a good suggestion. Thanks!
