I had this same problem on my 2000 celica. I ended up just unhooking them form the wire harness but it eliminated by highbeams. I usually only drove it durning the day anyways. I also tired unhooking the drl Daytime Running Lights fuse which worked well and still allowed me to have highbeams. But i was unsure if that fuse ran any other electronics. However it worked well so if you check under the hood maybe you can find it and expiermenta bit. However they are ment to be on for a reason. Being safety 1st and that a lighted car is easier to see and notice as opposed to the car with out the lighst on. Im assuming the dealership wont help you for that reason alone being that they dont want to be held liable. Perhaps im wrong. The good thing about my 05 cam is you can disable the drl on the light switch. I thought that was the coolest thing when i 1st bought the car. That and a 5spd automatic tranny.

Im sure you could hook up a switch and splice some wires to have the same ability.

I'm not sure of your experience with wiring, but here's an idea. On my supra I jumped off the MAP and was able to ride with fog lamps only (which is illegal in VA but who cares). If you can find a wiring diagram then you can usually find out what's running off of what and then solder (nota big fan of crimping) wires and make it happen without any negative effect. If you try this and are stumped let me know..I'm currently dropping another V6 in my 98 camry so I haven't been messing with anything along those lines and only have had the car for about two weeks. I'll look into this soon though as I plan on changing a few things with the lighting. Good luck and God bless!

I can't imagine not using my drl...in my old car people had this tendancy to pull out in front of me and it doesn't happen much now that i have them. A switch would be cool though. What bugs me is the auto-headlight sensor when i get stuck under a dark bridge for a few seconds...on,off,on, off make up yur @#$%! mind
