1mzfe engine removal
Hi there
long time reader, first time poster. I’ve got a 2006 XV30 Camry with a noisy engine, the best quote I’ve been given is $7000 for a rebuild and that’s mad. I’ve decided to pull the engine and put a wrecker motor in and am chasing advice from anyone who’s done it. I’ve read on here that the front engine mount is a pain and requires a light touch but I’m wondering if there are any other tips. The last engine swap I did was an EJ207 and apart from the damn gearbox locating pins it was a dream, I feel this’ll hurt me a lot more.

Is this a 4 cylinder? There is nothing complicated about changing this engine.
Toyotanation.com has a few posts on this.

When reinstalling the torque converter make sure its seated onto the trans oil pump drive shaft. If not it will remain slightly forward of the bell housing. When the engine/trans is bolted together the torque converter will now be forced into the oil pump and damage it. Read up on proper torque converter installation.
.
When installing the half shafts into the trans make sure the differential seals are not damaged as the axle is rammed into differential gearing to get it to lock..

No, as the title says it’s the 1mz-fe. Not a lot of room to see what’s happening back towards the firewall. I’d be stoked if it was the little four, so much room for activities. The drive shafts tip is a good one, cheers.

Ops!
Can take it out the top or bottom Bottom requires removing the subframe and getting a lot of height on the car..
If out the top will need to tilt the engine/trans assy to get the trans to clear the body.
