So I recently replaced the power steering return hoses (both intermediate and one that connects to the power steering reservoir) due to line corrosion. This has solved the slow leak that I have been having. There was never any whine and the car turns fantastic. The only problem is the intermediate pipe is very exposed to the salty road conditions in my area and is likely to corrode again. How can I protect this line from corroding again in the future? Can I wrap it in electrical tape? spray clear coat on it?

BTW I also replaced both these parts with original Toyota parts because I plan on keeping this car.

Would avoid electrical tape unless it was self sealing.

A lacquer clear coat will help prevent rust but may not be enough for your situation. T

here are sprays such as LPS3 and Boeshield T-9 which work but may need reapplying every few years.

Look into something called bitumen tape which is designed to prevent rust and corrosion on pipes, if you can find in a usable size. The pipe is wrapped with the tape.

Or an asphalt sealer such as used for roofs or walls.

For paints look at Rust Oelum oil based Rusty Metal primer.

You want to establish a water proof barrier on the part. Clean the metal of any oil first and don't leave an bare spots when applying any material.
