Default Center Vents not Working, 94 Camry, 2.2l, 4 door

I know there are multiple questions like this but none are exactly like my problem. I have air blowing through all vents except my center vents. When I switch to different vent modes the side vents change air flow that’s it. There is a pop sound something’s. Please help.

Sounds like your actuators are stuck.

I know there is the blend door actuator. Are there anymore I should check? I can also see that the blend door moves when I switch the modes, but nothing happens except the side vents loose a little flow.

These side vents are on the same ducting as the center vent. The center vent has a remote controlled "defrost dampener" door that opens/closes to flow air. The side vents have a manual air control. Perhaps the defrost dampener door is moving slightly open/closed causing the change in side vent airflow. The door is moved by an electric servomotor. The motor could have failed.

The blend door is located under the dash below the area of the glove compartment. It's not the same door.

The defrost dampener motor unit can be viewed by looking up under the dash on the drivers side of the center of car heating/AC system next to the firewall. Look for a cam and arm assy with a black plastic motor attached. Perhaps switching vent system locations using the dash control can cause the arm/cam to move and be identified.

Thanks for the info. I was able to find the rod your talking about and it was disconnected. Took some time but figured out where it was supposed to be located. Now I got air out of the center vents just a temporary fix cause I assume the lever will move again since it is not Locked in.

Great job!

There is a clip, typically plastic that holds the rod in. Not sure if clip is built into the receiving end part where the rod goes or is separate.
