When I turn on my air it only blows through the defroster vents and it never comes through the actual vents. What should I look into to fix this problem

 

Manual or automatic climate system?

The vent selection switch controls electric servo motors to move various vent doors open or closed.

Start by determining which vents have air flow including floor, dash side and center.

In defrost mode, defrost vent is open and others closed but there still should some air out of the lower and side vents.

Select various air outlet positions and listen for servo motor operation and door movement.

If the vent is stuck on defrost might be the vent selection switch.

 

Its a Manual system. Some air comes from dash vents but very light. When I switch it to the floor its fine but when i switch to dash it goes straight to defrost vents. I tested like u said and even saw the vent selection switch work. it moved and everything but it seems like air kept comming out of the side dash vents no matter what option i chose and the middle vents never worked. The vent switch was moving and everything but almost no change unless i selected the floor vents or defrost. Im confused

 

The system has lots of doors. To narrow down door issue location check air flow at each vent selection using the following criteria:

Face vent selection: Should have large amount of air going to center and side vents with a smaller amount out the lower vent.

Bi-level: Medium air flow out the center, side and front foot vents, small amount out the lower and rear foot vents.

Foot: Large amount out front foot vent, medium out rear foot and side vents, small out of lower vent, front and side defrost vents.

Foot/Defrost: Medium out of side, front foot and front defrost, small out of lower vent, rear foot and side defrost.

Defrost: Large front defrost, medium out side vent, small out lower and side defrost.

 

It seems that no matter what selection I switch it to, it never blows out the center vents and always blows out the side vents. It also seems that it always blows out of the defroster very lightly but consistently until I select it then it all blows out from there. As you listed the side vents are almost always in use un every selection so that seems to be fine. Its just the center vents dont blow any air when I choose face vent and bi-level, when I choose those the air that suppose to be blowing through the center blows through the defrost vents instead

 

That seem to be too technical, I suggest it should be seen by expert... we can't tell exactly the problem by telling it, the problem seem to serious.

 

Center vent has a servo door that when closed blocks only center vent air. If no center vent air at any selection then this door could be closed because servo not working, servo push/pull rod to door has come off, or ?

Center vent issues are not that uncommon. See link below for info. The 1992-96 were the same generation of car thus have similar systems if not the same.
