Default 94 Wagon Hatchback Stuck!

Hello Camryoids,

I had the back window glass (in the hatchback) replaced in my Camry last week, and since they put the new window in, the hatchback won't open.

Does anyone have an idea of what might be causing this?

Other info:
The lock seems to be operating normally.
The door won't open from the inside or the outside.
There were glass bits inside the door (under the hatchback cover) after the window broke. . . I don't know if the glass dudes removed it.

I have contacted the glass place, and they're going to look at it this afternoon, but the fellow there didn't seem to have a clue of what might be causing this. . . .I thought one of you might.

Thanks!!!

WG

P.S. I need to transport a friend's standup bass this weekend, so I'm feeling a bit urgent about this. . . .Thx again!

The outside key lock seems normal? How does the inside door lock feel: normal, stuck?

The door may have a child protection lock that could be on.

There may be an electronic motor that can unlock the door remotely from the drivers seat, does this work?

Try another key if you have one.

Suppose it is possible a connecting rod may have fell off. This connects the key cylinder with the lock. Or glass may have gotten into the lock mechanism.

If nothing works turn it over to the glass company who can employ a locksmith at their expense.

Thumbs up

Thanks! You hit the nail on the head with the glass fragment idea.

There was a piece of glass stuck in the mechanism, and the glass folks were able to find it and remove it! Yay!

Thanks for the ideas. I appreciate your help very much!
