Hello, this week my 97 camry was broken into via smashing the sunroof. Maaco quoted me $600 for the new sunroof and $400 for labor. I've found that I can purchase the glass and / or mechanism on ebay for considerably less, but am unsure how big of a job it is to replace the piece. Maaco said you have to drop the roofliner and remove the whole sunroof mechanism to gain access to the glass panel. Has anyone done a similar repair? Or anyone at least dropped the roofliner in this vehicle before? Looking for any tips and advice! Thank you!

 

How skilled are you with repair?

Suggest you find factory shop manual for the 1997. With this you can take the car apart as required. The job should be straight forward with a manual, without a manual lots of guessing. A lot betting then spending $1K.
