Default Code P0355

Hi everyone,

Thanks for helping out! My girlfriend's car recently turned on the "check engine" light and she diagnosed it with her Automatic plugin device. The code that came up was "P0355 - Ignition Coil E Primary Control Circuit/Open". She took it into the shop yesterday and they "fixed it" but it came back on today with the same warning code.

Any advice on how to troubleshoot and what to tell or ask of the technicians?

Thanks again for the help!

EDIT: also, can she drive on it for the time being?

yes I have had to fix a camry with this problem

wish i knew what year the car was ...Is this a 4 cylinder ?

I will give you this answer for now

if so
the motor should be running rough at times when hot ... or lack a bit of power under load

try this
you may have a faulty coil pack ..... its the bit sitting above the spark plug

find the one that is faulty and replace it .. you .dont have to replace all 4

what this fault code means
DTC P0355 Ignition Coil E Primary/Secondary Circuit Malfunction

P0355 is the ign coil for the No 5 cylinder.

No 5 is on the cylinder bank closest to the firewall and on the far drivers side of engine.
