Default Use 5W-20 in 2001 Camry?

My 2001 Camry's manual calls for 5W-30, and I'm wondering if it's safe or a bad idea to use 5W-20 (synthetic) in it. FWIW, I'm in mid-Michigan.

Thanks!

Also, FWIW, it is driven only around town, less than 20 miles per trip.

Suggest staying with the manual.

Multi viscosity oils change their resistance to flow with temperature which is good for engine starts in cold temps.

Toyota designed the engine to run on 30 weight oil not 20 for engine operation once warmed up.
