Default DLC2 and OBD SCAN Tool

I have the check engine light on my 1994 Camry LE V6, and I went to Autozone. They don't have a tool that will read the OBD code from the round connector located on the bottom left of the dashboard pointing downwards with a lid on top. How/where can I get the OBD code read, besides the obvious places like Toyota dealership?

Thanks

This may be a transitional year.

Some owners have stated there is a second plug behind the drivers side ash/coin try.

You may need an adapter plug.

Is there a Pep Boys in the area.

There are pepboys in the area but I don't think they do anything for free or cheap. Do they?

Thanks for reminding about the location of the OBD connector. I knew it was there but could not easily see it.

Found the connector and used an OBD II scanner at Advanced Auto Parts. It indicates P0773 Shift Solenoid E Electrical...

Wonder if this is easily fixable or a pricy one.

This is the torque converter lockup solenoid. The solenoid can be accessed from outside the transmission case.

Suggest doing a Google search on this code and the word Camry. Reading the hits should give you an idea of the problem, how to check the solenoid and replacing it.

If your handy with tools you can do the job yourself.

The solenoid should be available on the aftermarket. Toyota calls it the "SL" or "E" solenoid.
