'98 XLE Camry-Console Pleather Top Replacement?

Has anyone ever replaced or reupholstered, themselves, the console lid, with good results?
Over the years, I guess, when I'm climbing into the car, I've got a bad habit of pushing onto the console with my right elbow-arm combo, weakening the 'Faux' Pleather, and there are two rips in it now.


I stopped by a shop today, and he suggested a more durable commercial Leather, He said the seats are real leather, but the console top, or lid, is actually pleather.


Well, he had no remnants of the commercial in that "close to the tan color", so he would have to order it, and I would have to buy a minimum of one square yard @ $60.00, plus labor. I guess it would have to be very close in color, or it may look silly... And should not cost an "An Arm And A Leg!"
Any ideas?
