Default Trouble replacing 2007 v6 engine air filter

I have been screwing around with the filter replacement. Apparently the top of the black filter box must somehow come off. I undid the 3 clips and no luck. I cannot even get the old filter back in.

It appears that there is some sort of plastic hinge in the rear of the box but I cannot manipulate it.

The top of the box must be removed buy how? The net was no help.

Thanks in advance.

Anything in the owners manual?

The service manual is of little help.

The rear corner of the upper box cover is connected to the engine intake hose.

Have you tried the Autozone or Toyotanation websites.
