Default What Kind Of Oil Are You Using In Your Camry ??

We just got our new 2018 Camry 2.5 L SE. I noticed Toyota specifies 0W-16 oil for it. The manual also states that 0W-20 can be used instead. I have always done my own oil changes, and 0W-20 is much more available around here. Wal-Mart always has the best price on synthetic oils, and is far cheaper than any of the chain auto parts stores. I'm also thinking 0W-20 would be a better choice here in the desert Southwest in the hot Summer months. What weight, type and brand oil are you guys running in your late model Toyota 4-cylinders?

I was also glad to find out that Toyota has switched back to the spin on, disposable oil filters in 2018 for the Camry, and gotten away from those messy, PITA cartridge type filters with the plastic housing, and all those O-Rings. I was VERY glad to hear that. I'm finding the filters on Amazon and E-Bay for as little as $5.49 each. And these were for Toyota brand filters. Also, is there a longer version of it? The part number is # 90915-10009.

Any full synthetic will be fine. Mobil 1 appears to be a favorite.

On past Camry, 0W-20 was recommended with 5W-20 deemed OK if the other was not available.

Toyota brand is good. Wix is also good or NAPA Gold or whatever is their latest version (all made by Wix).

Odds are the Ebay filter vendor is Toyota dealer selling on the side. Good price.

The issue with finding a longer filter is they are designed with a specific flow rate, bypass pressure, etc. To match these up can be challenging. Given the car is still under warranty make be best to stick to something stock.

Thanks! I'll most likely go with Mobil 1, 0W-20. My first oil change will be coming up in the hot Summer here in Phoenix. So 0W-20 is very close to 0W-16, and the tiny bit of added viscosity on the high end should be good in the hot Arizona Summer. I'm really thankful Toyota went to a disposable, spin on filter on the 2018 model Camry. Those cartridge type filters can be messy and difficult.
