Default what is the operating system
on a 96 camry le i have an obd2 tester and tried plugging it bin but it won't fit, so is it obd1 ,1.5 or 2.

96 is ODB2.

What plug are you using? Look under dash near steering column.

i looked under the dash by the steering colum and found a plug in but it had a round plastic piece around it.

There are two plugs, round and the ODBII.

Federal law requires the ODBII plug on this year of car.
