Default Window tint

I am looking to tint my windows but not trying to pay 275 to get it done. If I buy the tint precut and do it myself how hard would it be? Anyone used precut and did it themselves? Is it worth paying for a professional?

$275 seems pretty high what are you getting done? Suggest shopping around for lower quotes. If you can get the price down low enough consider having a professional to do the work.

The task is not hard for a DIY but requires good prep work and patience. If DIY, take the time to review the numerous videos and posts on the internet to get an idea of the process and do's and don't. The rear window requires more skill so read up.

The window needs to be extremely clean. If using any water in the process use distilled as it does not have minerals that can leave spots. When using a heat gun some installers caution it's use on laminated windows. If doing so apply only enough heat to shrink the material. Don't use a razor blade on the rear window if has a built-in defroster, antenna, etc. The film material will burn if overheated. Buy a high quality product that will not fade or turn color over time. A local tint shop may sell the quality material for DIY.

Take note the film once applied and dry also take patience to remove.

Check local laws about what windows can be tinted and how dark. There are choices in the film tint.

If you study up and have patience you should be able to do a good job although the rear window will be hardest.
