Windshield Wipers Keep Blowing Fuses

Windshield Wipers Keep Blowing Fuses
2001 Camry with 305k miles.
Here's my issue: every time we pull the windshield wiper selector switch past the first position, it blows the fuse. I've replaced the motor with linkage assembly with 3 different assemblies (all used from Pull-A-Part) but still the same result. I had taken it to a shop and they told me the one we had in it had bad linkage and it was burning out the motor. Parts and labor would have been $650 to repair. I'm assuming it's a bad ground wire somewhere. Before I tear into a wiring diagram, is there any chance that the windshield wiper selector switch could be the culprit? I'm trying to do the easy things first before I get in over my head.
Any thoughts?
