ALARM SYSTEM AFTER BATTERY CHANGE
There's a more detailed history for this problem, but here's the short version:
I changed the battery in my 2002 Camry LE. When I connected the new battery, the alarm went off (repeated horn blasts). I stopped that by turning the key in the driver's door.
But now the alarm goes off frequently and at unpredictable times. Examples: when I open a car door, when I unlock the trunk, when I pop the trunk from inside the car, when I close a door
Also, the remote lock/unlock device doesn't work.
Also, sometimes the car doesn't start, and then a minute later (after opening and closing doors, and turning off the alarm if necessary), it starts and runs fine.
Does anyone know what's going on? Is there something that needs to be reset by a Toyota dealer (or by me, or by a mechanic)?
Thanks for your help.

do you have an aftermarket system or is this completely factory.
if its completely factory then you need to bring it back to the dealership to have it checked out - check your user manual.
if its aftermarket then theres probably a reset procedure. right now it looks like its randomly going into detterent mode even though you've got the keys etc. - bring it back to the shop where you got it at, or bring it to another shop if you got the car used and dunno where the alarm came from - the latter should be costly tho.

I just bought the car from an individual seller, and it didn't have this problem before the battery went dead. As far as I know the alarm system is original.
As you suggest, I have made an appointment with a Toyota dealer for next week.
Thanks for your advice.

hmm.. you have a blown fuse(s) or might not. it happened with my cousin's sti and we found out that his swtich (forgot wahts it called but they use the switch instead of the ANL fuse) for his amp was turned off. and that was reset everything was back to normal.
